Welcome to Midweek Connection!

Hi life group,

So this is really exciting and Tukes and I are so excited and really ecstatic to be rolling this blog out for our life group! We are setting this up as a way to stay connected during the week to both the Word of God, but also to each other. This blog will be utilized as a study tool in our walk with Christ and also a source for encouragement, advice, sharing of thoughts and ideas, and much more from all members of our life group. I, Carol will be heading this up, while Tukes will remain the main leader for our Monday night life group meetings. There will be topics, scripture, verses, and concepts in the Living Bible that we will discuss in this blog; this is the purpose of this blog. If there is anyone at anytime that has ideas they want considered for me to include in the blog, please feel free to let me know whenever you think of it :) I love you guys and truly look forward to the next level of our life group!

  7. How can we continue to trust God, especially in times of hardship:

In Proverbs 3:12 it says "the Lord disciplines those he loves" and in Hebrews 12:7 it says "Endure hardships as disipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father? If you are not disciplined, then you are illegitimate chidren and not true sons." Later in verse 11 it says "No discipline seems pleasent at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of rightousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."

I think its because of our past hardships we can continue to trust God and because of them we are able to trust him more, the more hardships we face. When we see the end of a hardship I believe God gives us peace and a better understanding of who he is and because of that our trust grows stronger. Going through hardships also allows our testimony to grow which enables us to help others during similar hardships. And without testimony we wouldn't be able to face certain hardships. For example without the testimony of other men with the same sins that I faced in the past my marriage would not have been able to survive! And for these reasons we should rejoice and thank God for our hardships.

  8. I agree with every thing that you said Steve! Sometimes it feels like easier said than done, BUT I always try to keep in perspective that God knows what he's doing and nothing he does is for nothing!!!

The scripture I studied to answer this question were, Ps 56:3-4, which says "When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not fear. What can....."-This chapter actually talks about man being oppressed by man and what God can do in those situations, but I felt this part of it can directly apply to this week's topic.

Pr 3:5-"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding."

We never really know why God does what he does or the reasons why he allows things to happen that happen to us. There is a reason for everything God does and only he knows why, I really try not to question him on things that happen in my life. I try to live out by faith. Sometimes that does get difficult because I start to feel that I am on my last straw and have nothing else to keep my faith going. It seems in my life God always comes through in the last hours, not a minute sooner. I strongly believe the reason why he does that with me is because of some of the types of qualities I possess. I am definitely a very strong person with a lot of confidence and strength, and in the past, maybe more times than not attributing my success to my hard work versus His grace and blessings for me. In the beginning of my walk with Christ, I'm pretty sure God had to..... let's just say sorta shed some light on the fact that He is everything and nothing is possible without Him! He blesses us in His timing, not when we feel we want it, also it usually seems there are our plans and then there are His plans for us, sometimes those two don't line up. All to say that for me, it's like God uses my circumstances to remind me that He is God. In the past 3 years or so, I have definitely learned humility in Christ! Although I am still a strong and confident person, I definitely know that ALL of it is only possible through Christ my Saviour! That confidence and strength also allows me to endure these very difficult times that are currently in my life.

It is so nice to be doing this though, because I feel like it is an outlet, a way to constantly remain in the Word and remind myself of God's promises to us! He has made covenants with ALL of us and will keep them, but as in Ec 3:1, 3, 4, & 8-"There is time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven:.....a time to tear down and a time to build, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,.......a time of war and a time of peace."

  10. You are my hiding place
You always fill my heart with songs
of deliverance, whenever I am afraid

    I will trust in you
    I will trust in you
    Let the weak say I
    am strong
in the strength of my Lord

    I will trust in you

  11. I agree with what everyone has said thus far! I have a hard time with trusting when you can not see sometimes. It is so hard to just give up your worries and not think about them and have faith and just wait. I read this poem a long time ago and it really for me sums up the walk we have with Christ sometimes.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.
In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand.
Sometimes there were two sets of footprints,
other times there were one set of footprints.

This bothered me because I noticed
that during the low periods of my life,
    when I was suffering from
    anguish, sorrow or defeat,
I could see only one set of footprints.

So I said to the Lord,
"You promised me Lord, that if I followed you,
you would walk with me always.
But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life
there have only been one set of footprints in the sand.
Why, when I needed you most, you have not been there for me?"

    The Lord replied,
"The times when you have seen only
one set of footprints in the sand,
    is when I carried you."

We know when he is there and when things are looking down we sometimes question him. But that is when we should have the most faith and trust that he is carrying us!

That is my 2 cents! Love you guys!
